We’re back!

Our trip to Ireland was great! We had wonderful weather, and went to some really nice places!

So here’s an edited version of our itinerary (what we actually ended up doing during our trip):

First Day:

Second Day:

Day Three:

  • Headed out to Galway via the Coast Road through the Burren…BEAUTIFUL!
  • Stopped off to see Dunguarie Castle (pronounced “Dun Goo-ra” by the Irishman at the castle.
  • Later checked in with Anthony at the Amber Bay Bed & Breakfast in Salthill, Co. Galway.
  • Took a short stroll through the city of Galway, then it started to rain (a bit) so we popped into Fitzgerald’s (a little pub-restaurant we found along the way). We had our 2nd Anniversary dinner there, as well as a few pints!

Day Four:

  • Visited Roundstone on our way to the next B & B.
  • John and Mom both bought Bodhráns (pronounced Bow-Rawn…it’s an Irish drum) from Malachy Kearns (a world famous Bodhrán maker).
  • Headed off to Clifden, Co. Galway and stayed with Ruth Morgan at the Hillside Lodge (we didn’t get to meet her husband Stewart because he was on tour with a band).
  • We visited the old Clifden Castle (built by John D’Arcy, the founder of Clifden, around 1820)
  • We saw some beautiful Connamara Ponies while we were walking to the castle. Such lovely creatures!!!!
